Our village of La Val, known as „Hiking village“, offers several walking possibilities, of which the most suggestive, and suitable for the whole family, is the one through the Armentara meadows.
After the very first steps, a breathtaking natural scenery will open up right in front of you amidst meadows full of different types of plants such as the wild orchid and gentian, which in spring reach the peak of their flowering.
At this point you will be immersed in our country's best-known landscape. Looking up, you can admire the grandeur of the Sas dla Crusc/Sasso Croce massif.
Do you want to experience a unique emotion? Find the hut from where you can send greetings to your loved ones by writing a postcard that will be sent twice a year: in spring at the first blossom of the flowers, and in winter when the first snowflake falls.
Continuing on the path through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, you will find yourself in front of the iconic La Crusc/Santa Croce church dating back to 1484. From here, the view expands from the Piz La Ila plateau, where every year world ski champions take centre stage, to the Marmolada glacier.
From the Furnacia car park located at 1500 m, 3 km above the village of La Val, take path no. 15A. After a 20-minute walk, you will find the Ütia Ranch da André hut, and after another hour and a half, the La Crusc hut, located right next to the sanctuary at an altitude of 2045 m. The return is along the same route.
Follow the SS244 Val Badia road towards Pederoa and continue on road SP60 to La Val. From the village centre, follow the signs for Furnacia.
