Starting point: Seis (1.004 mt.) Duration: 2:00 hrs Difference in elevation: 207 m Difficulty rating: easy footpath. From Seis (1.004 mt.) we go to the Hotel Waldrast. Continuing on good paths we arrive at the road which leads to Bad Ratzes. Behind the hotel we cross over the Frötschbach to reach path no. 3. The forest road is initially ascending, but then proceeds plainly. Here we have a fantastic view on the Schlern. Behind the bucks’ crib we proceed to the Hauenstein ruins (1201 mt.). Many centuries ago here lived the famous knight and poet Oswald von Wolkenstein and his family. Now we follow path no. 3 and arrive at the ruins of the Castle Salegg (1120 mt.). The lords of Salegg were probably native to Kastelruth. Their historic tracks date back to 12th century. Unfortunately only some ruins remain of the ancient castle, but some walls suggest that it has been restructured already in the 16th century. From the ruins we continue on path no. 3 b to return to Seis.
