The tour to Aica di Fiè leads in a figure of eight around the Umser Feld and the Aichaberg, which links to the Val di Tires/Tiers Valley. This tour does not present any particular challenges on a technical level, and is suitable for newcomers to mountain biking. Beautiful views over the Sciliar/Schlern, the Croda del Maglio/Hammerwand and Monte Cavone/Tschafon round off this beginners’ tour.
The tour begins in Fiè allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern. The road leads past beautiful old farms towards Umes/Ums, with the Croda del Maglio and the Monte Cavone firmly in sight. A dirt road leads onwards up to the Moarmühle Mill, above the Umser Feld and on to Umes.
A slight ascent then takes you onwards towards Monte Cavone, just before which a short side road takes you past Umes sawmill and on to Castel Presule/Schloss Prösels. This trail leads slightly uphill to the small village, where you can stop for a break and enjoy a look around Castle Presule. From here, head towards Aica di Fiè and up a gentle slope to the Croce di Schnaggen/Schnaggenkreuz, an exceptionally beautiful vantage point overlooking the entire rocky amphitheatre from the Sciliar to Monte Cavone. After a slight uphill to the Umes sawmill, it’s time for the crowning finale to the tour: The old road from Umes to Fie allo Sciliar/Völs am Schlern.
