A long and varied uphill route, physical challenge and a demanding downhill stretch in terms of technique characterise this tour.
The tour begins in Siusi/Seis and leads past Schafstall and Marinzen towards Gstatsch and along the Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm road until you get to the Spitzbühl car park. A tarred road leads up to the mountain station of the chairlift. The stretch takes in the Baita Laurin/Laurinhütte, Baita Rosa Alpina/Almrosenhütte, Rifugio Molignon/Mahlknechthütte huts and the Dialer Chapel, and boasts breathtaking views over the Dolomites. The road which follows to the Rifugio Alpe di Tires hut is open to traffic and exceptionally steep, with a gradient of up to 20%. From the Alpe di Tires, take the same route downhill towards the Passo Duron/Mahlknechtjoch ridge, past the Zallinger until you get to Saltria and then on to Compaccio/Compatsch. At the Zorzi guest house, a trail leads off in the direction of the Spitzbühl car park. Technique fans will now be in their element along the narrow, technically challenging trail towards Gstatsch. Caution: This route is extremely slippery if it’s wet or raining!!! The route leads past Bagni di Razzes/Bad Ratzes and back to your set-off point.
